Video: Russia Attacked a Commuter Train in the Sumy Region: There Are Injured People
On September 8, Russian troops attacked a passenger diesel train in the Sumy region. As a result of the attack, passengers sustained shrapnel wounds.
This was reported by Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia.
“This day of horrific ‘hunting’ of passenger trains continues. Another strike on a commuter diesel train in the Sumy region. And once again, a precautionary stop was made after the threat was detected—the passengers were evacuated,” he emphasized.
He added that the train was stopped in time after the threat was detected, and the passengers were evacuated. However, according to preliminary information, not everyone managed to get to a safe distance in time. Some passengers sustained shrapnel wounds.
The train crew provided first aid to the victims, and medical personnel later arrived at the scene.
Pertsovsky stressed that in frontline communities, rolling stock and railway infrastructure are among the main targets of Russian forces.
During a safety stop and evacuation announcement, passengers must immediately proceed to a shelter, if one is available.
If the train has stopped on the tracks or at a station without shelter, passengers must move at least 200 meters away from the railway infrastructure.
The chairman of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia noted that in the vast majority of cases, trains are able to stop in time after a threat is detected. At the same time, the outcome of an evacuation depends on how quickly passengers follow the train crew’s instructions.
“The price of disregarding these rules is life and health,” added Pertsovskyi.
On September 8, Russian troops struck a Kyiv–Sumy train with two “Shahed” drones. The train was stopped in advance, and passengers and crew members were evacuated following a warning from the Ukrzaliznytsia monitoring team.
As a reminder, fires broke out at industrial facilities in the Kyiv region due to an attack by the Russian Federation.
Russia also launched a massive attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding civilians.
Later, rescue workers showed the aftermath of the strikes on Kyiv.
