Elina Svitolina responded to the damage caused to her club following the attack on Kyiv
Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina has publicly commented for the first time on the Russian attack on Kyiv, which damaged the SVITO Padel Club. The sports facility is owned by Svitolina and Serhiy Stakhovsky.
According to the tennis player, the club sustained serious damage from the blast wave. However, no one was injured. Svitolina emphasized that her club was one of many sports facilities in Ukraine that have suffered as a result of Russian aggression.
“Today, my club, SVITO PADEL, has become one of them,” the athlete wrote.
Svitolina also stated that due to the war, Ukrainian athletes are forced to train under conditions that differ significantly from those of their competitors from other countries. According to her, as of now, 776 Ukrainian athletes and sports officials have died as a result of the war, and 942 sports facilities have been damaged or destroyed.
The tennis player appealed to Ukraine’s international partners and friends, calling on them to support Ukrainian athletes and take concrete steps to stop Russian aggression.
SVITO Padel Club opened in Kyiv as recently as May 2026. The club’s team is currently working to restore the damaged infrastructure. They promise to announce the club’s reopening once repairs are complete.

On September 8, during a Russian attack on Kyiv, a Russian drone struck the building housing the “We Are Ukraine” TV channel. The strike partially destroyed the building, and five employees of the TV channel were injured.
On September 8, Russian troops struck the Kyiv–Sumy train with two “Shahed” drones. The train had been stopped in advance, and passengers and crew members were evacuated following a warning from the “Ukrzaliznytsia” monitoring team.
As a reminder, fires broke out at industrial facilities in the Kyiv region as a result of the Russian Federation’s attack.
