Video: The Ukrainian Navy struck the Russian vessel NEFRIT in the port of Sochi

The Ukrainian Navy struck the Russian-flagged multi-purpose support vessel NEFRIT in the port of Sochi.

An unmanned naval boat was used for the attack.

A powerful explosion and smoke were observed in the area of the vessel following the strike.

The NEFRIT was used to support Russia’s oil and gas operations, service offshore facilities, transport cargo and personnel, and conduct underwater technical operations.

The Navy emphasized that the destruction of the vessel deals a blow to Russian logistics, special capabilities, and military-economic infrastructure.

The day before, the Russian oil refinery “Kirishinefteorgsintez” in the Leningrad Oblast completely halted oil refining following a drone attack on August 30. According to Reuters, two primary refining units at the facility were damaged, while two others were not operating at the time of the strike.

Russia has reportedly restored 90% of the oil refining capacity damaged as a result of Ukrainian attacks. According to Vladimir Putin, about 10% of Russian refinery capacity remains damaged at this time.
