Video: The Ukrainian Armed Forces thwarted the occupiers' plans to encircle Druzhkivka and launch an offensive on Dobropillia
Ukrainian troops in the Donetsk region carried out a sweep against Russian forces that had been massing in the area throughout the summer. As a result, the Russians were unable to carry out their plans to encircle Druzhkivka and advance toward Dobropillia.
The operation was carried out by a special-purpose reconnaissance detachment, forces from the 1st and 6th battalions of the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov,” the “Tuman” Special Operations Detachment of the 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine “Azov,” and the “Shkval” Battalion of the 425th Special Operations Battalion “Skelya,” with support from the Lasar’s Group Special Operations Unit of the National Guard of Ukraine.
It is noted that Ukrainian defenders began the operation back in early August.
As a result, the enemy’s attempt to reach logistical routes for the rapid encirclement of Druzhkivka and an attack in the direction of Dobropillia was thwarted.
According to the commander of the 12th “Azov” Brigade, call sign “Horus,” forces from the occupying 90th Tank Division and the 8th Combined Arms Army attempted to reach the logistics routes.
The operation was planned with the participation of representatives from all units involved.
“The first task was to use firepower to isolate the area where the enemy forces were massing in order to prevent their further advance and create favorable conditions for the advance of our assault groups. I consider this task completed,” said “Chorus.”
The commander of the “Shkval” battalion, whose call sign is “Zamok,” noted that during the operation, Ukrainian troops tried to minimize their losses.
“If it was difficult to clear out the enemy—whether due to cover or the risk of casualties or injuries to our troops—we responded using both our own assets and those of the 12th Brigade, employing both FPV drones and attack helicopters. The response was swift. We tried to act quickly so that our guys wouldn’t get hurt and could secure the position where the enemy was detected,” “Zamok” said.
Total Russian losses during the operation amounted to 237 killed and 44 wounded. In addition, three occupiers were taken prisoner, according to AZOV.
Earlier, the Third Corps cited a striking casualty ratio in the Lyman sector.
As a reminder, during Operation Vivaldi, ground robots were deployed behind enemy lines for the first time.
Ukrainian defense forces liberated Shandryholove and Derylove in the Donetsk region and established full control over Drobyshev. This was reported by Andriy Biletsky, commander of the Third Army Corps. According to him, this took place as part of the “Vivaldi” offensive operation.
As part of Operation “Vivaldi,” Ukrainian troops are continuing their offensive operations in the north of the Donetsk region. Over the course of the week, the Ukrainian Defense Forces made further advances, specifically clearing and liberating several settlements.
