Russian saboteurs spent three months traveling around Kyiv posing as couriers

Russian saboteurs spent three months traveling around Kyiv posing as couriers

A soldier from the 425th Separate Assault Regiment, with the call sign “Kyivite,” criticized the work of the National Police of Ukraine regarding the possible presence of Russian military personnel in rear areas.

According to the soldier, Russian military personnel had been moving around Kyiv for three months, posing as couriers for the Glovo delivery service. He claims that the saboteurs were only apprehended when they attempted to cross the state border.

At the same time, the National Police of Ukraine has not yet responded to the statement by the soldier from the 425th Special Forces Regiment and has not confirmed whether the incident involving the fake courier actually took place.

In addition to the story about the fake couriers, the soldier from the 425th Regiment mentioned another Russian who allegedly managed to travel without any problems on a commuter train in the Dnipropetrovsk region. At the same time, the soldier criticized the National Police, which, in his opinion, is wasting half a billion hryvnias in state funding.

According to “Kyivite,” two Russian soldiers made their way into Kyiv through the front lines in the Sumy region. They allegedly deserted from the Russian Armed Forces and hitchhiked to the Ukrainian capital, carrying neither documents nor money. After that, the Russians presumably got jobs with the Glovo courier service and roamed the city freely for three months. Next, they bought a phone, earned some money, and tried to cross the border into Belarus, but were detained. As a Ukrainian military official explained, during their interrogation by border guards, “their hair stood on end” when they heard this story.

As for the story involving the “Ukrzaliznytsia” commuter train, according to “Kyivite,” a “Yakut” infiltrated the rear lines and told the ticket inspectors that his documents had burned up, allowing him to travel wherever he wanted until he was “caught” [that is, presumably, until he was discovered and arrested—ed.]. The Russian spent some time drinking and partying, and was detained while attempting to pay with a “Sberbank of Russia” card. It is also noted that it remains unclear exactly how this man managed to pass through the checkpoints.

In the end, “Kyivite” expressed outrage at the police and Glovo, wondering why the Russians “weren’t rounded up by the TCC,” but at the same time provided no evidence to confirm the reality of incidents involving Russian soldiers moving freely throughout Ukraine.

The Scandal Involving Russian Soldiers — Details of the Glovo Incident

The delivery service company’s website outlines the procedure for registering couriers. Among other things, it states that applicants must upload scans of documents (passport, identification code), which are presumably then verified by company employees. Furthermore, starting in the summer of 2025, the company will only hire individuals who are Group 3 sole proprietors, a status that can be obtained through the government service “Diya,” which is available only to Ukrainian citizens.

There are no comments on the Glovo-Ukraine company’s website, the National Police portal, or the “Ukrzaliznytsia” website regarding the scandal involving Russian soldiers who allegedly worked as couriers in Kyiv or rode on commuter trains.

Russian saboteurs have abandoned their attempts to infiltrate the Chernihiv region.

Recently, the activity of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups near the borders of the Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv regions has significantly decreased.
