Witkoff and Kushner arrive in Kyiv to resume peace talks
US President Donald Trump’s special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have arrived in Kyiv, Ukraine, to help resume peace talks amid Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, ABC News Australia reports.
Meeting in Moscow
The US representatives’ visit to Kyiv came after their meeting in Moscow with Vladimir Putin, the president of the Russian Federation — an aggressor state — on Saturday.
According to ABC News Australia, Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to suspend strikes on each other’s capitals for the duration of the talks.

Ukraine’s position
On Sunday, Zelenskyy said that Kyiv was ready for a “constructive” conversation with US representatives. According to him, Ukraine is interested in bringing the war closer to an end and needs peace, security guarantees, and a just and lasting post-war peace.
The Ukrainian president also said that Kyiv’s proposals had already been prepared.
