Two people were killed and 18 wounded as a result of shelling in the Kherson region on May 2
On May 2, Russian troops attacked Kherson and the surrounding region, killing two people and wounding 18 others.
This was reported by the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Under the procedural guidance of the Kherson Regional Prosecutor’s Office, pre-trial investigations have been launched into the commission of war crimes (Parts 1 and 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, on May 2, 2026, Russian forces shelled settlements in the Kherson region using aircraft, artillery, mortars, and unmanned aerial vehicles.
As of 5:30 p.m., it has been established that two people were killed and 18 others were wounded as a result of the enemy drone attacks.
In the morning in Kherson, Russian forces attacked a route taxi traveling down the street with a drone. As a result, a 56-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man were killed on the spot, and ten other people were injured.
Under similar circumstances, another minibus was attacked—the driver was injured.
In addition, three adults and three children—two boys and a girl—were injured on various streets in the regional center. Another person was injured in the village of Inzhenerne.
Private homes, apartment buildings, and vehicles were damaged.
Prosecutors, together with investigators, continue to assess the consequences of the shelling and document war crimes committed by the armed forces of the aggressor state.
As a reminder, a minibus was attacked again in Kherson, and the driver was wounded.
The number of casualties in Kherson following a Russian drone strike on a minibus has risen to nine people. Among the wounded is a medical worker who sustained serious injuries. Casualties continue to be identified and transported to hospitals.
Additionally, over the past 24 hours, Russian forces carried out 857 strikes on the Zaporizhzhia region. Dozens of settlements came under fire. In the Zaporizhzhia district, three people were injured, and there is damage to housing and infrastructure.
Additionally, in Kharkiv overnight, a Russian drone struck a high-rise building and flew directly into an apartment on the 12th floor. The munition did not explode, but two people were injured. Residents of the building were evacuated, and all emergency services were on the scene.
On the night of May 2, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with over 160 drones of various types. Air defense forces neutralized most of the targets, but some drones still reached their targets. The attack continued into the morning, with enemy UAVs remaining in the air.
