Russian Z-bloggers claimed that Fedorov's resignation would weaken the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Russian Z-bloggers reacted positively to the dismissal of Mykhailo Fedorov as Ukraine’s defense minister, claiming that this could allegedly weaken the Ukrainian army.

Authors of pro-Russian Telegram channels described the personnel decision as “beneficial for Russia,” linking Fedorov to the development of Ukrainian drone technology, the digitization of the military, and the strengthening of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ capabilities.

In particular, Z-blogger Alexei Zhivov claimed that Fedorov’s dismissal would allegedly make the task easier for Russian troops. A similar view was expressed by the authors of the channels “Osvedomitiel,” “Voenny Osvedomitiel,” and other Russian commentators, who acknowledged the former minister’s contribution to the development of Ukrainian drones and digital solutions for the military.

Political analyst Dmitry Tsybakov, who is quoted by Russian media outlets, also called Fedorov one of the most effective civilian leaders during wartime and suggested that political motives may have been behind his dismissal.

This was reported by The Moscow Times.

As a reminder, Sternenko spoke of pressure being exerted on the military following rallies in support of Fedorov.

On July 16, rallies in support of Mykhailo Fedorov took place for the second time that day in Kyiv, Lviv, and Lutsk following reports of his resignation as defense minister. Participants called on the authorities to continue the reforms that had been initiated and to transparently select the new leadership of the Ministry of Defense.
