The drone jammers purchased by the Russian National Guard for 1 billion rubles turned out to be unusable

The Lefortovo Court in Moscow has received a criminal case against Andrei Rul, technical director of Oruzheynaya Palata LLC, who is accused of supplying the Russian National Guard with defective “Vyzhigatel” UAV detection and suppression systems.

Contracts for the purchase of these systems were signed in November 2023 for more than 1 billion rubles (approximately $12.75 million). Although the device was advertised as a mobile and effective tool for reconnaissance and stationary posts, according to investigators, the equipment turned out to be completely inoperable and remained in storage.

In this case, Rosgvardia Major General Konstantin Ryabykh was previously detained and sentenced to 12 years in a strict-regime penal colony for accepting a 17-million-ruble bribe in exchange for facilitating the contract. The accused technical director of the company denies the charges, claiming that the systems are not military equipment and are freely available on the market; however, his assets, including a estate in the Moscow region and vehicles, have been seized.
