Frozen Russian assets to be used for Ukraine’s reconstruction after the war — Zelenskyy

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian funds frozen in the West should become a key financial resource for Ukraine’s reconstruction once the war ends.

He made these remarks during an online media briefing on his way to Brussels, according to European Pravda.

The focus is primarily on assets blocked in European Union countries, which are being considered as a potential source of reparations.

The president emphasized that Kyiv insists on a legal and political solution that will allow these funds to be used specifically for the benefit of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy stressed that the issue of Russian assets is being considered not only in the context of future reconstruction, but also as a tool to support defense.

According to him, Ukraine needs funds for strengthening the army, developing defense production, and purchasing modern weaponry.

He specifically highlighted the need for air defense missiles from the United States and additional support from EU countries.

The president also stated that Ukraine is actively conducting diplomatic efforts to achieve an end to the war on terms acceptable to Kyiv.

He explained that there is discussion of agreeing on a comprehensive plan to end the war, which would also include reparations.
