Zelenskyy called the shelling of the Assumption Cathedral the Russian Federation’s gravest crime against Christianity

Zelenskyy called the shelling of the Assumption Cathedral the Russian Federation’s gravest crime against Christianity

On the night of June 15, Russian occupation forces launched a combined attack on Ukraine of unprecedented scale, firing a total of 70 missiles and 611 attack drones

In the capital alone, the enemy launched over 60 missiles, resulting in widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure and religious sites, as well as civilian casualties in several regions of the country.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and called on the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries to respond to this terror by decisively strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.

Kyiv suffered the heaviest strikes last night, with fires and destruction reported in many parts of the city.

As of this morning, four civilian deaths have been officially confirmed in the capital, and another 28 people have been injured to varying degrees.

One of the gravest crimes against global Christian culture was the strike on Ukraine’s historic gem—the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

The roof of the ancient Assumption Cathedral, whose history dates back to the 11th century, was engulfed in flames, but State Emergency Service firefighters managed to quickly extinguish this complex fire.

In parallel with the attack on the capital, the Russian army launched brutal strikes on other industrial and logistics centers across the country.

In Kharkiv, the occupiers resorted to the cynical tactic of repeated strikes, targeting rescue workers who were in the process of extinguishing a fire on the premises of the attacked enterprise.

As a result of this treacherous shelling in Kharkiv, five people were killed and nine were injured.

The strikes in Dnipro proved no less devastating, where a local college building, the railway station grounds, and civilian factories came under enemy fire.

In total, the Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Mykolaiv regions were subjected to massive enemy shelling.

The head of state emphasized that such large-scale and bloody terror is a clear demonstrative signal from the Kremlin on the eve of international meetings.

Russia is openly showing the whole world its aggressive intentions to continue the war of aggression and destroy the civilian population.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy stressed that world leaders, who are currently gathering for the important G7 summit, must demonstrate unity and provide Ukraine with more tools to defend its airspace.

“This is how Russia is showing the world its intentions to continue the war. It is very important that the G7 countries, which are currently gathering for the summit, respond, and that their response be decisive and substantial: more pressure on the aggressor, more assistance to Ukraine with air defense, primarily with anti-ballistic systems. I thank everyone who is helping us protect lives,” stated the President of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this on Facebook.
