The Russian State Duma stated that it sees no grounds for the war against Ukraine to end in 2026. It maintains that hostilities must continue until the objectives set by the Russian leadership are achieved.
Viktor Sobolev, a member of the Russian State Duma’s Defense Committee, stated that Russia aims to advance to Ukraine’s western borders, explaining this by the need to create a so-called “security zone” due to the increasing range of drones.
At the same time, the Russian lawmaker spoke out against a possible ceasefire, stating that halting hostilities now could allegedly lead to an even larger-scale conflict in the future.
