The death toll from the Russian attack in Kyiv has risen; children are among the wounded
Nine people were killed and 28 others were injured as a result of the Russian nighttime attack on Kyiv on August 1. Four children were among the victims.
“Nine people were killed in the capital as a result of the enemy’s attack. Twenty-eight Kyiv residents were injured, including four children. Seventeen of the injured are currently hospitalized. The others received medical care on an outpatient basis or at the scene,” Klitschko said.
According to the Kyiv police, one of the deceased was a law enforcement officer who was on duty.
According to law enforcement officials, the ballistic attack affected:
- the Darnytskyi district;
- the Holosiivskyi district;
- the Dniprovskyi district;
- Pecherskyi District;
- Svyatoshyn District;
- Solomyanskyi District;
- Shevchenkivskyi District.
The shelling damaged apartment buildings and private homes, non-residential structures, a school, supermarkets, a car wash, and vehicles.
According to preliminary reports, four children aged 13, 14, and 17 were among the injured.
Law enforcement officials note that information regarding the number of fatalities and casualties is still being verified.
Investigation and response teams, bomb disposal experts, rescue workers, medical personnel, and psychologists are working at the sites of the strikes and where debris fell.
The police reported that law enforcement officers are documenting the consequences of yet another war crime committed by Russia.

On the evening of July 31, a Russian attack drone struck a high-rise residential building in the Saltivsky district of Kharkiv. According to preliminary information, the building’s roof was damaged, but there were no casualties.
As a reminder, Russian drones attacked the Chernihiv region, damaging a gas station and a resort.
Russia launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv on the afternoon of July 24, although such attacks usually occur at night. An expert believes this could have been an attempt to wear down Ukraine’s air defense, a show of force, or the result of a technical delay in the missile launch.
