Zelenskyy Discussed a Possible Russian Offensive from the North with Military Commanders

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, together with Acting Minister of Defense Yevhen Khmara and Deputy Head of the Office of the President Pavlo Palisa, held a meeting with the commanders of eight army corps. During the meeting, they discussed the front’s most pressing needs, the defense strategy, and preparations for possible scenarios of developments in the Chernihiv-Kyiv sector, taking into account intelligence data.

“There was a briefing on our preparations for various possible scenarios along the Chernihiv-Kyiv axis, taking into account intelligence information and the Russians’ constant search for additional ways to prolong and expand the war. We discussed the need to strengthen frontline air defense. We identified the necessary decisions to continue corps-level reform,” the president said.

The commanders of the 9th, 12th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 18th, and 21st Corps, as well as the 30th Marine Corps, reported on the situation in their sectors, enemy activity, and the defense of Kherson, Nikopol, and communities in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Special attention was given to countering Russian drones, strengthening frontline air defense, additional supplies, and further steps within the framework of corps-level reform.

The State Border Guard Service stated that Russia may attempt to intensify hostilities in northern Ukraine not only from Belarusian territory but also directly from its own territory. The Chernihiv region is cited as one of the possible targets.
