Zelenskyy Approved New SBU Operations Following a Report on Priorities for August
On August 4, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he had approved new operations by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). He made this statement following a briefing by SBU Deputy Chairman Oleksandr Poklad on the agency’s priorities for August.
The president also noted the “good results” of the SBU’s work. According to him, he has approved further steps to “purge the internal structure” of the service of employees who “work for themselves rather than for Ukraine.”

On June 25, Zelenskyy announced that he had approved a 40-day SBU operation targeting Russia, the aggressor state, “to encourage an end to the war.” Exactly 40 days passed between the date of that statement and August 4.
In his August 4 statement, Zelenskyy did not mention this 40-day operation and did not specify whether the stated goal had been achieved. The day before, the head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Budanov, commenting on the operation, urged people “not to get hung up on deadlines,” according to “Ukrainska Pravda.”
