Zelensky warns that Russians may launch a massive strike at Christmas
Russian terrorist forces may carry out large-scale attacks on Ukraine during the Christmas holidays, as they have repeatedly stated that they will not observe any “Christmas ceasefire.”
This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a conversation with journalists at the Diplomatic Academy.
“When Russia says there will be no Christmas truce, that is always a clear signal — a warning of threats. After such signals, I asked to maximize our intelligence efforts so that we clearly understand our position,” Zelensky noted.
The head of state emphasized that Ukraine is considering the risk of attacks specifically at Christmas, as such actions align with the aggressor’s past behavior. Accordingly, strengthening air defense became a key issue at the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s headquarters.
“We understand that during these days they may carry out massive strikes. Therefore, the number one issue is air defense — protecting our cities, forces, and communities, especially on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th,” the president said.
At the same time, Zelensky acknowledged that the situation is complicated by a shortage of air defense systems. He stressed that the military is doing everything possible to protect the country and urged civilians to remain extremely vigilant during the holidays and not ignore alarm signals, because, as he said, for the enemy “nothing is sacred.”
