Zelenskyy: Russia Fired More Than 40 Missiles and 120 Drones at Ukraine Overnight

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that on the night of July 19, Russia carried out one of the most massive ballistic attacks on Kyiv, using more than 40 missiles of various types and 120 attack drones.

According to the head of state, as of this morning, one person has been reported killed and 16 wounded in Kyiv and the surrounding region. Cleanup efforts are underway at three locations in the capital following the shelling, with nearly 600 rescue workers involved in the operations. Emergency services are also working in the Odesa region.

Zelenskyy reported that over the course of the week, Russia had used approximately 1,450 attack drones, more than 1,640 guided aerial bombs, and 99 missiles of various types against Ukraine. Kyiv, as well as the Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Cherkasy regions, were targeted.

The President emphasized that strengthening missile defense remains one of Ukraine’s top priorities, and he also called on partners to continue supplying anti-ballistic missile systems and to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia.

On the night of July 19, Russian forces launched a ballistic missile strike on Kyiv. One person was killed and eight others were injured as a result of the attack. Damage and fires were reported in five districts of the capital.

Throughout the day on July 17, Russian forces launched strikes on Kharkiv and 29 other settlements in the Kharkiv region. Two people were killed and 18 others were injured in the shelling; among the victims were five children.

Throughout the day on July 17, the Chernihiv region came under attack from enemy drones. Fires broke out in several districts at once, but Ukrainian rescue workers have already extinguished them.
