Zelenskyy said that Moscow is relying on ballistic missile attacks
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russia continues to rely on ballistic terror and called on partners to expedite the delivery of interceptors for air defense systems.
According to the president, on the night of July 16, Russian forces launched 13 missiles—eight of which were ballistic—as well as 151 attack drones. Zelenskyy noted that this was the sixth ballistic attack on Kyiv since the beginning of July.
Two people were killed in the capital as a result of the missile strike, and five others were injured, including a child. According to the president, a high-rise building, warehouses, and vehicles were damaged.
Other regions of Ukraine were also targeted by Russian strikes. In the Kharkiv region, four people were injured, and residential buildings, a movie theater, and tennis courts were damaged. In Sumy, Russian forces struck a park, and in the region, they targeted a tractor brigade. In Zaporizhzhia, apartment buildings were damaged.
In addition, according to Zelenskyy, damage to power grid facilities has been reported in the Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, and Donetsk regions.
“Moscow is counting on terror through ballistic missiles and continues its strikes, so it is very important now to speed up the delivery of interceptors to our air defense forces. Every shipment matters, and everything we have agreed upon with our partners must arrive on time. The speed of these deliveries allows us to protect the lives of our people and deter Russia’s desire to continue the war. Thank you to everyone who is helping,” the president emphasized.
The head of state announced this on Facebook.
As a reminder, a nighttime attack by Russia on Kyiv claimed the life of a man, and his 16-year-old son lost an arm.
On the night of July 16, Russian terrorists fired ballistic missiles at Kyiv, resulting in fires at warehouses and non-residential buildings in two districts of the capital. There are also reports of casualties and injuries.
