Video: Afipsky Oil Refinery Attacked in Russia
On the night of August 25, a series of explosions rocked the village of Afipsky in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation, after which a fire broke out at the local oil refinery. According to local residents, the facility was attacked by drones, but there is currently no official confirmation that the plant was hit.

A fire broke out at the Afipsky oil refinery following the explosions. Eyewitnesses are posting footage online showing smoke in the area around the facility.
The Afipsky Oil Refinery is located near the village of Afipsky, 18 km from Krasnodar. The refinery is owned by the Safmar Group and is one of the largest in southern Russia: its design capacity is 6.25 million metric tons of crude oil per year, and actual processing, according to Reuters, reaches 7.2 million metric tons. This accounts for more than 2% of Russia’s total oil refining volume.
The facility produces gasoline, diesel fuel, and jet fuel. It is precisely jet fuel and diesel that power the Russian army on the southern front. As Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, noted, the plant’s location in the Krasnodar Krai makes it a key logistical hub for supplying fuel to Russian military equipment. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has repeatedly confirmed that the plant is “involved in supplying the occupying army.”
As is well known, the Krasnodar Region is not just a fuel depot for the Russian Federation’s army. It is from here that the Russians regularly launch “Shahed” kamikaze drones against Ukraine. The Primorsko-Akhtarsk airfield serves as a base for aircraft and houses the drones the enemy uses to strike Ukrainian cities. The Yeisk airfield, located “across the bay” from Mariupol, is used to base Su-34 bombers. Both facilities have already been targeted by Ukrainian strikes.
The destruction of fuel facilities in the region simultaneously disrupts the logistics of fuel supply to these bases.
