Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy chaired a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief’s Headquarters, the main topic of which was accelerating the production of domestically manufactured weapons to shoot down enemy drones.
To counter the “Shahed” drones with which Russia is attacking Ukrainian cities, the government is developing new high-speed interceptor drones and low-cost missiles. Domestic manufacturers have already created prototypes, and work is underway to bring these weapons up to the required level of effectiveness.
During the meeting, participants discussed involving the private sector in the production, supply, and configuration of specific air defense systems. The overarching goal is to ensure that the defense industry has an adequate quantity and quality of interception capabilities. The head of state emphasized that Ukrainian intelligence has information about the enemy’s plans, so resources are being directed toward preparing a response—particularly of an asymmetric nature—for which relevant operations have already been approved.
