The Ukrainian Armed Forces struck a Russian drone base and command centers in Crimea
The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of key Russian occupation targets in Crimea. Among them were a drone storage and launch site, command posts, a warehouse, and other targets. The destroyed equipment had been helping the Russians extend the operational range of their drones.
The strikes took place on August 20 and during the night of August 21. Ukrainian troops successfully struck:
a storage, preparation, and launch site for attack drones near the city of Donetsk;
a warehouse containing the occupiers’ logistical supplies in the village of Novosilske in the temporarily occupied Crimea;
two command posts—in Zaporizhzhia (Donetsk Oblast) and Kobylne (Zaporizhzhia Oblast).
Separately, units of the Defense Forces destroyed six ground-based repeaters that the Russians were using to control “Geran”/“Gerbera”-type attack drones in Crimea. Specifically, two were struck in Steregushche, three in the Olenivka area, and one in Chornomorsk.
As explained by the General Staff, such ground-based repeaters facilitate the transmission of control and communication signals between the operator and the drone, allowing the enemy to extend the range and operational stability of the drones.
"Operations against key enemy military targets are ongoing. More to come," the statement reads.
