Former Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to focus on internal unity and mobilizing supporters at the grassroots level as part of preparations for the 2028 general elections.

Preparations for the party conference

As MyJoyOnline reports, the former president spoke during a meeting with the National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC). A committee delegation arrived at his office to formally invite Akufo-Addo to the NPP’s 2026 National Delegates Conference.

Akufo-Addo said that the party’s ability to rebuild and renew itself would largely depend on strengthening internal cohesion and restoring ties with supporters at the grassroots level. He also expressed confidence in the NPP’s prospects in the 2028 elections, emphasizing the need to create a strong organizational foundation.
