Anadolu launches 30th war journalism training program in Ankara
In Ankara, Türkiye, Anadolu Agency has launched its 30th war journalism training program. The 12-day course is intended for media workers covering hostilities, natural disasters and other emergencies. Twenty-five journalists are taking part in the program, Anadolu Agency reports.
Participants from Asia and Oceania
The participants include nine Anadolu employees and 16 journalists from Laos, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. The training is organized jointly with the Turkish National Police Academy and the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, TIKA.
Oğuz Enis Peru, Anadolu's deputy director general for administrative and financial affairs, said that 654 local and international media professionals had completed the previous 29 programs. According to him, the agency pays special attention to the professional training and safety of journalists working in different parts of the world.

Course topics
The program covers the theory and terminology of war, the law of armed conflict, first aid, advanced driving skills, ballistics, explosives and mines, personal safety, and water survival. Participants will also be trained in technological and information security in emergencies, countering disinformation, protection against FPV drones, the psychology of war, and coverage of natural disasters.
Peru noted that classes on the geopolitics of Asia were included in the course for the first time this year, given the participation of journalists from Southeast Asia and the Pacific region. Fatih Inal, vice president of the Police Academy, stressed that war journalism encompasses not only armed conflicts: challenging conditions also arise when covering earthquakes, floods, forest fires and other disasters.
During the opening ceremony, representatives of TIKA and the Police Academy honored the memory of journalists and civilians killed in wars, including journalists killed in the Gaza Strip.
