APC in Bayelsa dismisses Wike’s Rainbow Coalition — Premium Times Nigeria

The Bayelsa State chapter of Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress (APC) said it does not consider the newly formed Rainbow Coalition politically significant in the state. The chapter’s chairman, Warman Ogoriba, said the APC has sufficient supporters, organizational structures and grassroots support to secure victory for President Bola Tinubu and the party’s officially nominated candidates in the 2027 general elections, Premium Times Nigeria reports.

Party structures

Ogoriba said that the APC remains united and has strong grassroots support. According to him, the party has established structures in all eight local government areas of the state and in the political wards.

He added that the APC would not be distracted by political alliances outside its established structures and would continue expanding its membership base, strengthening internal unity and intensifying grassroots mobilization. The chapter chairman also called on party members and supporters in Bayelsa to remain united.

Rainbow Coalition

According to the publication, citing the News Agency of Nigeria, the Rainbow Coalition is a multiparty political grouping created by Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike to support Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. The position of the APC chapter in Bayelsa was, in the publication’s assessment, a response to a recent dispute between Wike and APC governors who rejected the coalition.
