Timo Soini will not run for Finland’s parliament — YLE News
In Finland, former chair of the Finns Party Timo Soini said that he will not stand as a candidate in the upcoming parliamentary elections. He said this on Saturday’s Ykkösaamu program, YLE News reports.

At the same time, Soini said that he intends to run in the 2029 elections to the European Parliament. In August, he said that he was considering returning to politics as a candidate for Finland’s Centre Party.

Political career
Timo Soini led the Finns Party from 1997 to 2017. He began his political career in the Finnish Rural Party.
Soini was a member of Finland’s parliament, held various ministerial positions, and was a member of the European Parliament. In 2021, he stepped away from day-to-day politics.
