US aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln leaves Thailand after five-day visit
The US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln left Thailand on Sunday after a five-day port visit. According to the Jerusalem Post, citing the US Navy, the stop was a respite after the ship’s lengthy deployment, which included operations in the Middle East.
Visit to Thailand
The aircraft carrier arrived in Thailand on Wednesday morning accompanied by other US Navy ships. Thai officials said the visit would last five days.
After docking, sailors and marines in civilian clothes were transported by bus to a hotel in the resort city of Pattaya, about 150 kilometers southeast of Bangkok. The carrier’s commander, US Navy Captain Dan Keler, thanked the people of Thailand for their hospitality.

Lengthy deployment
The Nimitz-class Abraham Lincoln has approximately 5,000 personnel. According to the publication, the ship was involved in the US naval blockade and combat operations during the war with Iran.
Democratic lawmakers said the aircraft carrier set a modern record for the number of consecutive days at sea. Naval deployments usually last from six to nine months, but they may be extended during periods of conflict.
