Australia will hold large-scale military exercises involving 19 countries
Australia will host Pitch Black 2026, one of the world’s largest international air force exercises, which will involve military personnel from 19 countries and more than 100 aircraft.
The exercises will take place from July 20 to August 7 in northern Australia and will be held at one of the world’s largest military training grounds.
According to official information, forces from the following countries will participate in the exercises:
the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan, India, Canada, South Korea, Singapore, Finland, Sweden, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, New Zealand, Brunei, Fiji, and Papua New Guinea.
In total, more than 100 aircraft will be involved.
The exercises will include complex combat scenarios, as close to real-world conditions as possible, which will be practiced over the course of three weeks.
According to the exercise commander, Commodore Matt McCormack, the goal of the maneuvers is to enhance the operational interoperability of allied and partner air forces in multinational operations.
Also planned as part of Pitch Black 2026 are:
- combat aviation demonstration flights;
- an “open house” for local residents;
- an opportunity for the public to learn about the workings of a military camp.
Organizers emphasize that such exercises are crucial for strengthening regional and global security, as well as for coordinating the actions of allied air forces in crisis situations.
This was reported by the country’s Ministry of Defense.
