At least 10 people were killed and more than two dozen injured after a car bomb exploded outside the headquarters of Pakistan’s paramilitary forces in Quetta, Balochistan. Among the dead were civilians and two security personnel, while 26 wounded were taken to hospitals. The powerful blast caused chaos in the city center, triggering panic and leaving significant destruction.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but both Baloch separatists and Islamist militants are active in the region, frequently targeting government and military installations. Local officials said the strike bore the hallmarks of a suicide bombing aimed at the Frontier Corps’ headquarters.

Balochistan remains one of Pakistan’s most unstable regions, rich in natural resources and strategically key to China’s Belt and Road Initiative. In March, the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) seized a train with over 400 passengers, and earlier this summer the Trump administration designated the group as a terrorist organization.
