Azerbaijan will resume direct flights to Russia after a long hiatus

Azerbaijan plans to resume direct flights to Russia on several routes in the near future.

Flights between the two countries were suspended following the crash of an Azerbaijan Airlines plane in December 2024 near the city of Aktau, which killed 38 people. At the time, the Russian air defense system was cited as the cause of the tragedy, but Moscow refused to acknowledge its responsibility for a long time.

“Direct flights are expected to resume in the near future on a number of routes that were subject to restrictions following the well-known tragic incident in December 2024 involving our civilian aircraft,” said Jeyhun Bayramov.

This was stated by the country’s Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

This is being reported by Russian propaganda media.
