Bahrain has stripped 69 people of their citizenship for supporting Iranian attacks

Bahraini authorities have revoked the citizenship of 69 individuals convicted of ties to foreign organizations and of glorifying Iranian attacks during the recent regional conflict. The decision was based on social media posts which, according to investigators, incited instability and threatened public order.

Gulf News reports on the strict security measures in the kingdom.

According to official data, these actions were a response to threats to national security that escalated during the 39-day war between the U.S., Israel, and Iran. During this period, the Persian Gulf region became the scene of numerous missile and drone attacks. Bahraini officials emphasized that revoking citizenship is part of a strategy to counter external influence and networks supported by foreign states.

Amid the escalating situation, the country’s authorities have significantly stepped up monitoring of the internet. Citizens were warned of the consequences of disseminating materials that could undermine state stability. This move demonstrates Bahrain’s determination to combat Iranian influence and its efforts to ensure internal security amid high geopolitical tensions, which are also reverberating in global alliances, particularly due to Iran’s partnership with Russia.

The day before, U.S. President Donald Trump canceled a visit by an American delegation to Pakistan, where talks with Iran were to take place.

Trump stated that Iran has repeatedly violated the ceasefire since it was established between Washington and Tehran. According to Trump, there have been numerous incidents that cast doubt on Iran’s compliance with the ceasefire agreements.

On the eve of a possible resumption of direct talks between the U.S. and Iran in Pakistan, Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Roger Wicker publicly called on President Donald Trump to continue strikes against Tehran.
