Ukraine, the EU, and Canada will hold a high-level meeting in Brussels on May 11 regarding the return of Ukrainian children abducted by Russia.
“On May 11, the High Representative (for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas) and European Commissioner (for Enlargement, Marta Kos) will hold a high-level meeting to further support the return of Ukrainian children to Ukraine; this meeting will be co-chaired by Canada and Ukraine at the ministerial level,” Hipper said.
She emphasized that the meeting participants will focus “on very specific actions as part of the follow-up work based on the results of this meeting.”

Hipper noted that "since the start of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, over 20,000 Ukrainian children have been illegally deported and forcibly displaced to Russia and the temporarily occupied territories."

She reported that, "according to Ukrainian authorities, 2,100 Ukrainian children who were illegally taken by Russia have returned to Ukraine, and 150 of them returned this year."
