The Baltic countries are preparing a protest against Russia's participation in the Venice Biennale
The Baltic states plan to protest Russia's participation in the Venice Biennale due to public initiatives during the exhibition.
This was reported by LRT.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Culture stated that the curators of the Baltic pavilions are considering various forms of action that will clearly demonstrate their position regarding Russia’s participation.
At the same time, Lithuania does not plan to boycott the Biennale but intends to act in concert with other countries in the region.
This involves organizing public initiatives directly during the event to consistently and visibly express opposition to Russia’s presence at the exhibition.
Former NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg revealed details of behind-the-scenes negotiations with Russia on the eve of full-scale war in his memoirs. In 2021, he was prepared to discuss the possibility of withdrawing Alliance troops from Eastern Europe and creating a so-called “buffer zone,” which could include the Baltic states.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that a number of current political processes could play into the Kremlin’s hands and called them “Putin’s dream plan.”
