Finland will join the drone coalition by the end of spring
Finland plans to officially join the international "drone coalition" by the end of this spring, thereby strengthening its support for Ukraine in the field of unmanned technology.
This was announced by the country’s Minister of Defense, Antti Hykkänen.
According to him, the decision was made over a long period of time—the analysis began as early as last year. Ultimately, the government concluded that participation in this initiative, which brings together more than two dozen countries, is appropriate.
Officials in Helsinki emphasize that joining the coalition will allow Finland to increase its contribution to joint defense initiatives and support for Ukraine, particularly in the development and supply of unmanned systems.
The government is also discussing the possibility of additional funding for this area to make the assistance more substantial.
Currently, the “drone coalition” includes more than 20 countries, including European states and partners from other regions. The initiative is coordinated by the United Kingdom and Latvia.
Finland’s accession is expected to strengthen the coalition’s technological capabilities and coordination in the field of unmanned solutions for Ukraine.
Finland is exploring options for joining a multinational mission to ensure security in the Strait of Hormuz.
