An aftershock with a magnitude of up to 5.1 occurred near Caracas
An aftershock occurred in northern Venezuela following a series of earthquakes last week. Residents of Caracas and surrounding areas felt the tremors, but there are currently no reports of further damage.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the aftershock had a magnitude of 4.6, and its epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers, approximately 27 kilometers north of the city of Caraballeda. Meanwhile, the Colombian Geological Survey estimated the magnitude of the tremors at 5.1.
Jorge Rodríguez, president of Venezuela’s National Assembly, stated that no reports of new damage had been received. The aftershock was also felt in the port city of La Guaira, which was severely affected by last week’s earthquakes.
