Trump Will Support Ukraine in the War Against Russia — Republican Congressman Wilson
Republican Congressman Joe Wilson expressed confidence that U.S. President Donald Trump will ultimately support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
According to the American politician, lawmakers’ efforts will be aimed at ensuring the White House’s unwavering solidarity with the Ukrainian people.
Joe Wilson emphasized that the U.S. president’s stance toward the Russian leader is entirely deliberate.
“President Trump has made it clear that Vladimir Putin talks a lot in the morning, but in the afternoon he bombs and kills Ukrainian civilians,” the congressman noted in a comment to Ukrinform.
The politician noted that the U.S. president is banking on a diplomatic resolution to international crises, drawing on his previous experience in negotiations with Iran and North Korea.
At the same time, Trump demonstrates an ability to combine a willingness to engage in open dialogue with an uncompromising stance on his own demands.
“He sincerely wants negotiations, but at the same time he will stand his ground,” Wilson emphasized.
To back up his words, the congressman cited key decisions from Donald Trump’s first term that significantly strengthened Ukraine’s defense capabilities and NATO’s eastern flank.
“It was Trump who, for the first time, provided Ukraine with Javelin anti-tank missile systems to stop the invasion. It was Trump who, for the first time in history, deployed U.S. troops to Poland. It was Trump who halted ‘Nord Stream 2,’ which was funding the dictatorship in Moscow,” he recalled.
