Ninth body found near Kyrenia after ferry wreck
Rescuers found a ninth body during searches near the wreckage of a ferry that sank on Sunday off the coast of Kyrenia. Turkish Cypriot “prime minister” Unal Ustel reported this on Wednesday evening, according to Cyprus Mail.
Identification of the body
According to a preliminary assessment, the recovered body belonged to a man who appeared to be around 50 years old. It was sent to the morgue of Dr Burhan Nalbantoglu Hospital in northern Nicosia for identification. The identity of the deceased was not named in the report.

Data on the dead and those who could not be located
Before this discovery, eight deaths had been confirmed as a result of the shipwreck. Another 20 people remained unaccounted for after the vessel sank, meaning their whereabouts had not been established at that time. The discovery of the new body increased the number of confirmed deaths to nine.
