The Polish Prosecutor's Office Wants to Question President Navrotsky in the Case of the Constitutional Court Justices

The Polish Prosecutor General’s Office has asked President Karol Nawrocki to be questioned as a witness in a criminal investigation involving four judges of the Constitutional Court.

According to Anna Adamyak, a spokeswoman for the Prosecutor General’s Office, the prosecutor asked the head of state to set a date and location convenient for the questioning.

The investigation began on April 21, 2026, following a statement by two judges of the Constitutional Tribunal. It concerns possible actions that prevented the four judges, elected by the Sejm on March 13, from performing their duties and issuing judicial rulings.

As part of the proceedings, the prosecutor’s office has already questioned more than 40 witnesses, including employees of the Office of the President and the Constitutional Court. Investigators have also seized documents that may be relevant to the case.

According to Adamyak, after analyzing the evidence gathered, the prosecutor determined that questioning Nawrocki is necessary to fully establish the circumstances and conduct a legal assessment of the events.

On March 13, the Polish Sejm elected six judges to the Constitutional Court. Two of them took the oath of office at the Presidential Palace, while the others did so during a ceremony at the Sejm. The President’s Office had previously expressed doubts regarding the procedure for their appointment.
