Cargo vessel Ocean Winner sinks off India’s eastern coast
The Panama-flagged cargo vessel Ocean Winner sank off India’s eastern coast, Deutsche Welle reports. There were 24 crew members on board. At least two sailors were reportedly rescued. The cause of the vessel’s sinking is currently unknown.
Crew and search operation
According to Indian officials, the crew included 20 Chinese nationals, three sailors from Myanmar and one Bangladeshi national.
According to the Indian Express, citing officials, the Ocean Winner was about 240 nautical miles, or 444 kilometers, off the coast of Odisha state. The Indian Coast Guard and the country’s navy were conducting a joint operation to search for other survivors.

The Hindustan Times, citing Paradip police representative Sanjay Negi, reported that vessels near the accident site were also involved in the rescue operation.
Cargo and route
According to the vessel-tracking service MarineTraffic, the Ocean Winner was carrying iron ore from Paradip port in Odisha to Singapore.
