Book of condolences opened in Tallinn in memory of Siim Kallas — ERR News
A book of condolences has been opened at Stenbock House in Tallinn in memory of former Estonian Prime Minister Siim Kallas, who died at the beginning of the weekend at the age of 77. This was reported by ERR News.
The president made the first entry
Estonian President Alar Karis made the first entry in the book. It was placed in the Angels’ Hall at Stenbock House. Karis called Kallas a statesman who played an important role in shaping Estonia through bold and far-sighted goals and actions.
Prime Minister Kristen Michal also paid tribute to Kallas, calling him a role model and mentor who was important to building modern Estonia.

The book will be handed over to the family
On Sunday, the book of condolences can be signed until 17:00. From Monday, it will be available on weekdays from 9:00 to 17:00, until the day preceding the funeral. After that, the book will be handed over to the Kallas family. Condolences can also be expressed online.
Siim Kallas headed Estonia’s government in 2002–2003, and from 2004 to 2014 he was a European commissioner and vice-president of the European Commission. He was one of the founders of the Reform Party and was involved in Estonia’s monetary reform, the country’s accession to the EU and NATO in 2004, and the transition to the euro in 2011. His daughter, Kaja Kallas, is currently the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
