Belarus says it is ready to facilitate talks on Ukraine — Anadolu Agency
Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhenkov, speaking at the UN General Assembly in New York, United States, said Minsk was ready to facilitate negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine. Anadolu Agency reports.
Ryzhenkov’s position
According to Ryzhenkov, a lasting settlement is impossible without resolving what he called the root causes of the conflict. Among them, he mentioned Ukraine’s plans to join NATO and the non-implementation of the Minsk agreements.
The Belarusian foreign minister also claimed that the implementation of the Minsk agreements had been sabotaged in order to give Ukraine time to rearm. He called for real negotiations to begin as soon as possible, which, in his view, should lead to lasting peace, and criticized continued Western weapons supplies to Ukraine.

Statements on UN reform
Separately, Ryzhenkov spoke in favor of reforming the UN, including expanding the Security Council to provide greater representation for countries of the Global South. He said Belarus considers the UN the main universal platform for addressing global challenges, but that the organization must adapt to modern international realities.
The minister also called for the creation of a broader security architecture in Eurasia and said Minsk was open to dialogue with Western countries on an equal basis. At the same time, he rejected pressure, ultimatums and sanctions, which he called illegal.
