Most Russians want the war to end “as early as tomorrow,” according to an IKAR survey
According to a new survey, the overwhelming majority of Russian citizens support ending the war against Ukraine as soon as possible—the highest figure since the start of the full-scale invasion.
According to the poll, 81% of Russians support ending the war “as early as tomorrow.”
The authors note that this is the highest level since 2022—previously, the figure had fluctuated between 72% and 75% since 2023.
At the same time, the share of those who support continuing hostilities until “complete victory” has decreased from 13% to 9%, which is the lowest figure for the entire duration of the war.
According to the results of the May survey, the “special military operation” has become the main concern for Russians for the first time in a long while—cited by 33% of respondents. This is followed by low wages—24%—and high prices—18%.
Experts note that the war has returned to the forefront of Russians’ daily lives and is no longer just a “background issue.”
Respondents also associate the end of the war with an improvement in their financial situation, and 58% believe that these two goals should be the priority for the Russian government in 2026.
Separately, the survey notes negative attitudes toward mobile internet restrictions, “whitelists” of websites, and Telegram blocks.
According to IKAR, dissatisfaction with these measures is widespread across various social groups, as they affect citizens’ normal way of life.
The authors conclude that restrictions on digital services are increasingly perceived as a source of social discomfort.
This is stated in a study by the Institute for Conflictology and Analysis of Russia (IKAR).
In addition, according to the Russian Public Opinion Foundation (FOM), Russians’ level of trust in Russian dictator Vladimir Putin has dropped to 69%—the lowest figure since the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine.
