Poland's former defense minister spoke out against the transfer of Patriot missiles to Ukraine
Former Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak criticized the possible transfer of a new batch of missiles for Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine. He called such plans by the Polish government “absolutely unacceptable.”
Błaszczak stated that these missiles were purchased to protect Polish airspace, cities, and citizens, not to be transferred to Ukraine. Poland had previously transferred five PAC-3 missiles for the Patriot system to Kyiv.
The former minister was responding to a statement by Polish Deputy Defense Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarniecka, who said that a decision to transfer Patriot missiles to Ukraine could be made in the coming days.
"This is absolutely unacceptable. These missiles were purchased to defend Polish airspace, Polish cities, and Polish families—not so that Donald Tusk’s government could hand them out, thereby jeopardizing our security,” Blaszczak stated.
Poland has already transferred PAC-3 missiles to Ukraine
In July, the Polish Ministry of Defense officially confirmed that several months earlier, Warsaw had transferred PAC-3 missiles for Patriot systems to Ukraine.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk clarified that the transfer involved five missiles.
