Britain will lead the task force to rebuild the Ukrainian Armed Forces after peace is restored

Starting in July, the United Kingdom and France will lead the newly established Multinational Force for Ukraine (MNF-U) headquarters, which, together with other international allies, will be responsible for strategic planning and coordination of the long-term reconstruction and modernization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine following the future conclusion of a peace agreement

Command of the new structure will pass to British Major General Tom Bateman. This was announced by British Defense Minister Dan Jarvis following the conclusion of a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the “Ramstein” format.

Under the joint leadership of London and Paris, the headquarters—which more than 30 countries plan to join—will coordinate international efforts to build the future model of the Ukrainian military, develop military infrastructure, implement modern standards, and train personnel. The British minister emphasized that Ukrainians today are fighting not only for their own security, but also for the values and stability of all of Europe. He assured that the allies will steadfastly support Ukraine on this path for as long as necessary to ensure a just and lasting peace.
