Britain has imposed new sanctions against Russian tankers and criminals
On October 1, the British government announced the introduction of a new package of sanctions against Russia, targeting 31 individuals and entities, as well as vessels belonging to Russia’s “shadow fleet.”
In particular, personal restrictions were imposed on eight individuals involved in the unlawful detention and torture of Ukrainian citizens in the temporarily occupied territories, as well as seven others responsible for spreading propaganda and the militarization of deported Ukrainian children. A separate set of sanctions targets specially acquired vessels that Russia used to attempt to circumvent international restrictions and maintain profits from gas exports, including those that will not enter service until July 2026.
In addition, the British authorities have imposed sanctions on seven individuals—including four Georgian citizens—for spreading Russian disinformation, justifying the occupation policy, and working for illegal entities in the occupied territory of South Ossetia.
