Train service near Warsaw was suspended due to a damaged cable

Near Warsaw, serious train service disruptions occurred due to cable damage during repair work. On the Warsaw-Wilnenska–Zielonka route, 24 trains were delayed and another 22 were canceled. The total duration of the delays has already reached 419 minutes, and repairs may take several more hours.

In Poland, a damaged cable has caused widespread train service disruptions on the Warsaw-Wilnenska–Zielonka route. The incident occurred near the control center in Zielonka, located in the Wolomin County of the Masovian Voivodeship. During repair work, the contractor damaged a cable in the equipment responsible for controlling train traffic. As a result, the automated system on this section cannot operate normally.

Trains on the route are currently operating based on telephone notifications of their departures and arrivals. In other words, the automatic traffic control systems are temporarily out of service. As a result, train service has slowed down, and passengers are facing longer wait times.

According to PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, the accident caused a total delay of 419 minutes for 24 trains. Another 22 trains were canceled. PKP PLK spokesperson Anna Znaevska-Pavliuk reported that the average train delay is about 20 minutes. Maintenance crews are already on site and working to repair the damaged cable. According to preliminary estimates, the repairs may take several more hours.

Due to the incident, passengers are urged to check for the latest information before traveling. PKP PLK recommends using the Passenger Portal, where you can monitor schedule changes and current delays. While repairs are underway, the situation on the route may change. Therefore, passengers are advised to check their train schedules in advance and account for possible delays or cancellations.

Thus, the cause of the widespread disruptions was not an accident involving the train itself, but damage to a traffic control system cable during repair work. Due to the loss of automatic control, the railway is forced to temporarily operate in a more manual mode, which has caused delays and cancellations of dozens of trains. This was reported by RMF24.
