Some European countries are refusing to supply Ukraine with Patriot missiles – The Washington Post

Some European countries have rejected the Trump administration’s request to supply Ukraine with additional PAC-3 interceptor missiles. The allies fear that transferring ammunition from their own stockpiles would significantly weaken their national air defenses.

This is reported by The Washington Post.

Currently, Ukraine has almost completely exhausted its stockpiles of the most advanced missiles for Patriot systems, with the exception of a few units for protecting critical facilities. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has called on partners to review their stockpiles and provide PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles to build a reserve for the winter period. NATO notes that the main supply is currently being provided under the U.S. PURL program.

Pentagon officials confirmed that they are adhering to strict legal limits when replenishing stocks for Kyiv. At the same time, the U.S. side has assured partners that weapons intended for Ukraine will not be redirected to U.S. operations in the Middle East. Despite funding under the PURL, the volume of aid does not yet meet the current needs of Ukraine’s air defense forces.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced an expansion of international support under the Priority Use List (PURL) initiative. During the European Union summit in Cyprus, three countries joined the program, though their names have not been disclosed.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also held a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during which the parties discussed the implementation of the PURL program and further efforts to secure support from partners.
