State Duma Deputy Guruliev claimed that Telegram had been hacked following a post about a new mobilization in Russia
Russian State Duma Deputy Andrei Guruliev claimed that his Telegram account had allegedly been hacked following the publication of a message about a possible new wave of mobilization in Russia this fall and problems facing the Russian army on the front lines.
Following the high-profile post, the Russian lawmaker claimed that third parties were disseminating information on his account and called the incident a provocation.
On his channel in the “Max” messenger app, Gurulev reported that the texts on Telegram were allegedly being published by “enemies,” and also promised to restore access to his account as soon as possible.
“This is not my Telegram channel,” Guruliev told reporters.
The scandal erupted after a post about a possible new mobilization in Russia appeared on June 1 on a Telegram channel linked to the lawmaker.
The post claimed that Russian government circles are actively discussing the need for another large-scale mobilization campaign.
“Moreover, informed sources say that a fundamental decision on this has already been made and it will take place in the fall,” the message stated.
In addition, the author of the post offered a critical assessment of the situation on the front lines, noting that the Russian troops’ offensive operations have effectively lost momentum.
The text also claimed that the advance of Russian troops on the front lines has practically stopped, Ukrainian drones are inflicting significant losses on Russian infantry, and the situation on the battlefield could lead to the exhaustion of the Russian army.
After these statements appeared, Guruliev distanced himself from the published information and insisted that he had no connection to the post.
There is currently no official confirmation regarding preparations for a new wave of mobilization in Russia. At the same time, the topic of mobilization measures and losses on the front remains one of the most sensitive for the Russian authorities.
Earlier reports indicated that Russia might announce another mobilization this fall amid the complex situation on the Ukrainian front, the failure of the winter-spring offensive, and significant losses. State Duma Deputy Andrei Gurulov made this statement, linking the potential decision to Russia’s military setbacks in the war against Ukraine.
