DNA test showed that friends from the Netherlands are biological sisters
In the Netherlands, 43-year-old Mina Geltink and 44-year-old Minal Teissen, who had been friends for many years, discovered through a DNA test that they are biological sisters. Both were born in India in the early 1980s and were adopted within several months of their birth by different Dutch couples from two different orphanages in Mumbai.
Meeting in adolescence
The women first met in their early teens at an event organized by the adoption agency used by their parents. Their friends noticed similarities in their appearance and mannerisms. After meeting, Mina and Minal exchanged phone numbers and addresses and corresponded for many years, often calling each other sisters.
They wrote about their studies, friends, music, sports and dancing, and also discovered that they both loved the Backstreet Boys. About 15 years ago, they lost contact: Minal moved to France, while Mina was busy with her family after the birth of her first child.

Confirmation of kinship
As MyJoyOnline reports, in 2017 Mina decided to take a DNA test after meeting other adoptees from India, but found no matches at the time. In April, Minal also took a test while visiting her parents in the Netherlands. On May 20, she sent Mina a Facebook message with a screenshot of the result.
Mina reinstalled the app and saw a full match. The result confirmed that the women share the same biological mother and father. In August, they met for the first time after discovering their kinship.
Since then, the sisters have spoken every other day and have met each other's partners, children, brothers and parents. Minal lives in France with her partner and two sons, while Mina is the mother of three children. They would also like to travel to India together and walk through the streets of Mumbai.
