Man hospitalized after shark attack near Geraldton, Australia
A man was attacked by a shark at Glenfield Beach north of Geraldton in Western Australia. The victim, who is in his 50s, was taken to Geraldton Hospital as a priority one patient.
Report of the incident
The Western Australian Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development confirmed reports of a “shark incident” at Glenfield Beach. The incident became known at about 9:45 on Monday.

As ABC News Australia reports, the beach is located north of Geraldton, about 430 kilometers from Perth. Fisheries officers are working with local authorities in response to the incident.
Emergency services response
St John Ambulance confirmed that one man was hospitalized. According to a service spokesperson, two ambulance crews were dispatched to the beach at around 9:50.
