The former president said he would act if courts or local authorities blocked efforts to quell unrest, arguing that the law was designed to “crush rebellions” and should be used when “governors or mayors fail to act.”
State leaders from Illinois and Oregon have condemned the move as unconstitutional and politically motivated, accusing Trump of using the military as a tool for control. The White House, however, defended the stance, claiming the measure is needed to “restore order and protect American lives” amid ongoing protests.
